Quarries

Source of Our Quality Aggregates

Our rock quarries manufacture and supply the full range of aggregate and rock products including subbase, basecourse, revetment and erosion protection rock, sealing chip and concrete aggregates.

Our rock quarry production process delivers precise international quality that meets New Zealand Transport Agency, Fiji Public Works Department and Fiji Road Authority specifications. We engage in a rigorous testing and quality control regime to ensure that the rock quarry products we manufacture, maintain our reputation for supplying the South Pacific’s premium quality aggregates.

August 2010 saw the beginning of operations in Saru, Lautoka. This is some of the hardest basalt rock in Fiji and is in demand all over Fiji as well as other Pacific nations.

The in situ rock is drilled and blasted and provides hard rock feed for our crushing operations. We have recently commissioned a new static impact crusher for increased production of basecourse to M4 specifications. This also creates crusher feed for our two sealing chip plants and this is where quality control is paramount.

Currently, Saru is the only reliable local source of sealing chip in Fiji that fully complies with NZTA, PWD and FRA specifications, and it can be supplied and delivered to any location.

Flame Tree could see the increasing demand for aggregate rock in the Suva region and we identified a basalt rock quarry on the Suva – Nausori corridor. We established upstream from Sawani on the Waimanu River and crushed the first rocks in September 2012.

This is a significant basalt rock source and is estimated to supply the Suva and surrounding markets for the next 20 to 30 years. The relationship we have with our landowners is a model of how relationships should be in Fiji and they are using the royalties from the gravel extraction to build houses and other improvments at their Coli–i-Suva village.      We manufacture 20mm, 40mm basecourse and 65mm subbase and supply to all of the major contractors and government authorities including the Fiji Road Authority projects.

FLAME TREE Metso Mobile CrusherOur mobile crushing plant is available for transport anywhere in the Pacific. This plant coupled with our extensive fleet of excavators and the earthmoving plant can make short work of your materials supply requirements to the highest possible standards.

Often in remote locations, the key to the economic viability of a civil project is the ability to effectively source, extract and process materials required to meet sound civil engineering specifications.

In the early stages of a project, we can identify potential resource sites/plant requirements and plan the establishment and processing accordingly. This can save considerable cost when compared to that of imported materials. Our in-house civil engineers fully understand the benefits of high-quality aggregate materials for efficient construction, performance, and durability of the end product.

There is no need to compromise the quality of your project simply because you’re in a remote location. We can bring the process to the site and this aspect of our business is ever evolving. Flame Tree is constantly seeking out potential resources and locations and we have grand plans for aggregate production in the Pacific.
