Kiabu Island Runway, Kiabu Island, Northern (2012)

Flame Tree were engaged to provide a runway upgrade on the privately owned Kaibu Island in the northern Lau group. The work included establishing on site our plant and equipment including mobile crushing plant and explosive magazines on the remote island site. There was signi#cant cut to #ll, along with drilling and blasting of a rocky outcrop to cut down the level to allow the runway extension and installation of drainage including supply and installation of culverts and construction of longitudinal open swale drains.

The establishment of our crushing equipment on site allowed for the crushing and screening of material to produce basecourse and concrete aggregates for the runway.

A barge landing ramp was also constructed on the island.
